About us
Heating and Cooling Service Built Around South Bay Homes
MasterFix HVAC Repair Service works on heating and cooling systems in homes across San Jose and the surrounding South Bay. The Santa Clara Valley has dry summers and mild, damp winters, and inland and southern neighborhoods get noticeably hotter in summer than areas near the Bay. That means air conditioners here often work hardest in late summer, while furnaces and heat pumps see lighter but steady use through the cooler months. We repair and install central air, furnaces, heat pumps, and ductless mini-splits. We also handle the maintenance, duct cleaning, and indoor air quality work that keeps those systems running well. When something breaks, our technicians start by finding the actual cause. Then they walk you through what they found and what your options are. If a repair makes sense, we say so. If replacement is worth considering, we explain why and let you decide. Emergency service is available 24/7 for the times your system quits at night or on a weekend.

FAQ
Common questions
Do you offer emergency HVAC service?
Yes. We offer 24/7 emergency service for heating and cooling breakdowns, including nights and weekends.
Do I have to replace my gas furnace because of the new Bay Area Air District rules?
No. The Air District appliance rules do not require you to replace equipment that is working. They apply only when an existing furnace or water heater fails or is replaced.
What does the 2029 furnace rule mean for me?
Under Bay Area Air District Rule 9-4, natural gas furnaces manufactured from 2029 must meet a zero-NOx emission standard. In practice, that points homeowners toward heat pumps when they replace a furnace after that date. If your furnace is aging, it can help to think about your options before it fails.
Can I still get the federal tax credit for a heat pump?
The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C) covered qualifying heat pumps placed in service before December 31, 2025. It is not available for new installations after that date.
Are there any local incentives for heat pumps?
Bay Area homeowners can check BayREN and their local clean energy provider for current heat pump and electrification incentives. Amounts and availability change by funding cycle, so we confirm the current offer before including it in a quote.
When should I schedule AC maintenance?
Spring is a good time, before the hottest part of summer. Inland and southern parts of the Santa Clara Valley run noticeably hotter than areas near the Bay, so air conditioners there tend to work hardest in summer and benefit from a check-up beforehand.
Is a ductless mini-split a good option for my home?
Ductless mini-splits work well for homes without ductwork, for additions and converted garages, and for rooms that stay too hot or too cold. We can look at your layout and tell you whether a mini-split, a ducted heat pump, or another option makes more sense.
Should I replace my water heater now because of the Air District rules?
The zero-NOx date for small water heaters under Rule 9-6 was set for 2027. The Air District Board is considering amendments in November 2026 that could delay it. Check the current rule before planning a water heater replacement.
