The short answer
Yes, MasterFix serves La Honda, about 20 miles west of our San Jose base. We handle heating and AC repair, heat pump and mini-split installation, furnace work, maintenance, duct cleaning, indoor air quality, and 24/7 emergency calls.
MasterFix HVAC Repair Service travels from our San Jose base to La Honda, an unincorporated community in San Mateo County about 20 miles west. We repair and install furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ductless mini-splits. We also handle maintenance, duct cleaning, and indoor air quality work. La Honda is a longer drive than much of our service area, so a clear description of the problem when you call helps us bring the right parts on the first trip. We offer 24/7 emergency service when your heating or cooling stops working.
Heating and Cooling Needs on the Coast Side of the Hills
The Santa Clara Valley has a Mediterranean climate, with dry summers and mild, damp winters. Inland and southern parts of the valley run noticeably hotter in summer. La Honda sits west of the valley on the coast side of the hills, so it doesn't share the valley floor's hottest summer stretches. For many homes here, the heating system does most of the work, and the cool, damp months put steady demand on furnaces and heat pumps.
Cooling still matters. Warm spells happen, and a heat pump or ductless mini-split can cover both seasons with one system. Damp weather also affects ductwork and indoor air, so we check moisture, filtration, and airflow along with the equipment itself.
HVAC Services We Offer in La Honda
We offer the same services in La Honda that we provide across the South Bay and Peninsula:

Replacing a Furnace or Water Heater: What the Air District Rules Mean
Bay Area Air District rules are changing how gas appliances get replaced. They do not require you to remove working equipment. The rules apply only when an existing furnace or water heater fails or is replaced.
Under Rule 9-4, natural gas furnaces manufactured from 2029 must meet a zero-NOx emission standard. In practice, that points homeowners toward heat pumps when a furnace is replaced after that date. If your furnace is getting older, think now about whether your next system will be a heat pump. Then a breakdown won't force a rushed decision.
For small water heaters, Rule 9-6 set a zero-NOx date of 2027. The Air District Board is considering amendments in November 2026 that could delay it, so check the current rule before planning a water heater replacement.
Heat Pump Incentives and Tax Credits Right Now
The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C) covered qualifying heat pumps placed in service before December 31, 2025. It is not available for new installations after that date, so don't count on it for a project today.
Local help may still be available. Bay Area homeowners can check BayREN and their local clean energy provider for current heat pump and electrification incentives. Amounts and availability change with each funding cycle, so we confirm the current offer before including it in a quote.
Maintenance and Indoor Air Quality for La Honda Homes
In a cool, damp setting, filters can load up faster, condensate drains can clog, and ductwork in crawlspaces or attics can collect moisture and dust. A maintenance visit covers these items along with burners, electrical connections, refrigerant-side performance, and safety controls.
If rooms feel stuffy, the air smells musty, or dust builds up quickly, duct cleaning and filtration upgrades may help. We'll explain what we find and suggest only the fixes that address the problem.
Nearby Areas We Also Serve
Besides La Honda and San Jose, we serve Los Altos Hills, Los Altos, Mountain View, Cupertino, and Saratoga. If you own property in more than one of these communities, we can service the systems at each location.
